We had the pleasure of meeting Alimou Diallo for an interview — an entrepreneur who doesn't just build businesses, he builds bridges. Born in Guinea and now thriving in Finland, Alimou is the founder of HygiSAFE and Afri-Nordic Connect, redefining what it means to do business with purpose.

We sat down with this remarkable entrepreneur for a conversation that revealed not only his journey but also his unwavering belief in the power of connection to transform lives and continents.

From Conakry to Helsinki: A Purpose-Driven Journey

"Hi Alimou, wonderful to meet you! Tell us a little about yourself."

"Thank you! I'm originally from Conakry, Guinea. I have a background in business administration and facility management, and I've been building businesses in Finland for over a decade. I'm what you might call a serial entrepreneur — always seeking purpose in what I do."

His path wasn't linear. Dreams of becoming a pilot or professional footballer led him to Finland's football fields until an injury redirected his trajectory. But Alimou's resilience shines through every pivot.

"I ended up in direct sales, despite not speaking Finnish — it wasn't easy. However, within six months, I had become the top dealer in Northern Europe. Eventually, I launched my own company. That's where my real journey began."

The foundation of his entrepreneurial spirit? Family.

"It all began with my mother, who's an entrepreneur, and my father, a teacher. I always saw what entrepreneurship could do for families and communities."

"Why is connecting Africa and the Nordics so important to you?"

"Living in Finland as a person of African heritage showed me both opportunities and limitations. To truly grow, I needed to build bridges. That's why I founded Afri-Nordic Connect — to transfer knowledge, technology, and shared growth between the regions. Finland has the know-how. Africa has the energy. Together, we're unstoppable."

This vision extends beyond business. It's about empowerment, possibility, and the belief that barriers exist to be broken.

"What advice would you give to young African entrepreneurs in Finland?"

"Believe in your potential. Acquire skills, stay determined, and utilize both your hands and your head. Politics may slow things down, but youth-driven entrepreneurship can change everything. Africa's future is in our hands."

HygiSAFE: Innovation with Impact

"Let's talk HygiSAFE. Where did the idea come from?"

The answer reveals Alimou's approach to business: start with a problem everyone faces, then create a solution that's better for everyone.

"We all clean — it's part of life. But most of us still rely on harmful chemicals. Studies show that cleaning with harsh products is like smoking 20 cigarettes a day in enclosed spaces. That's alarming."

"So, I partnered with Thermostar — a world leader in dry steam tech. I became their general distributor in Finland and launched HygiSAFE to offer sustainable, chemical-free hygiene solutions. It's better for health, the planet, and your wallet."

Dreaming Beyond Boundaries

"If you could launch one passion project today, what would it be?"

"Vocational education in Africa. We need to equip youth with practical skills. Not just for local impact, but global progress."

His vision extends to the foundations of change itself.

"How do we prepare the next generation to care and take responsibility for our future?"

"It starts at home — through family, culture, and values. Education doesn't begin at school; it begins with love, language, and example. When children feel seen and supported in their identity, they learn faster, grow stronger, and give back more."

A Message of Hope and Action

"And your final thoughts?"

"Let's keep the faith — in ourselves, in each other, and in what's possible. Real change starts in our homes, spreads through our communities, and blossoms across continents. That's what I'm here for."
